Moebius Approved

The man himself, holding a copy of Nonplayer #1.

Thanks to Justin Norman for making me print out a copy before he left for Angouleme, and to Joe Keatinge (pictured above) for having the nerve to show it to my all-time comics hero. Moebius asked if he could keep it, to which Joe graciously assented. Joe really made the right call on that one. I really need to get out to Angouleme next year.

I still feel like I'm dreaming this.

  1. I just saw that on the Image comics facebook page. Awesome!

Moving on up, Mr. Simpson. To the eastside. Unless of course you already live on the eastside, but that's just how the song goes. :D

  3. Awesome. There's not much better praise than that! I can't wait until it hits comic stores in April. Congrats on Image picking it up! I've been following your blog for some time now. I can't wait to see the final piece :)

  4. I've been following your blog for a long time, and congratulations, man. I've been looking forward to having this book in my hands, and the horrible feeling it's going to give me about my own work. I hope it sells through the roof. I'm totally envious of that photo. Moebius is giving a thumbs up to your work! That's gotta feel good.

  5. This is great news! I was in Paris for the Moebius expo last year, and caught a glimpse of him there.
I've been looking forward to seeing your work in print since I found your blog I don't know how anymore (Warren Ellis probably).
    I'll be getting that issue.
    6 issues, I'm in!

  6. Peter Hon - Thanks, now I've got that song stuck in my head. All day, I'm going to be humming that. My wife thanks you, as well.

misael - Yeah, it's pretty mind-blowing. Moebius sure is a nice guy. I just looked at your blog for the first time, and WOW. Nice stuff. Looking forward to seeing you at the next TAG, Misael!

Josiefiend - Thanks, Josie! Yeah, I think Moebius is well aware that just a little kind word from him can make somebody's year. With great power...

Dominic Bugatto - Thanks again, man!

dustinweaver - And what a thumb it is, right? Look at that thing! Several of us are now wondering if his improbably long thumbs give him some kind of drawing advantage. We wish. But as for your artwork -- you're a super-pro awesome dude! You're making ME feel bad now. I look forward to seeing what's next for you!

the comics expert - Thanks very much! Everybody's been telling me that the current Moebius show in Paris is just about the niftiest thing in history, which makes me VERY JEALOUS that people have plane money. Sigh. One day.

  8. Congratulations!
I'm wondering how long was the time lapse between Image showing definite interest in your project to them saying decidedly "Yes! We are greenlighting your book for publication by Image Comics!" One month? Three? Six?

  10. DRP - Yep, it's trippy. Thanks! Are we doing TAG-and-a-half this Tuesday? There's beer needs drinkin.

Raffaele Ienco - Thanks, Raffaele. Getting picked up by Image is not a fast process. I think the first time they showed serious interest in Nonplayer was last February, and "yes" came sometime around October, I think. So yeah. Not too fast.

Nanzo - Sure, I'm happy to answer any questions you have. Good luck with your submission -- your work is absolutely beautiful. I hope you get picked up!
